Yoga Safaris in the Okavango
Nxamaseri Island Lodge, on a private island in the permanent waters of the Panhandle.
Nxamaseri Island Lodge
Papyrus channels and a Yoga deck over the water
The Panhandle is where the Okavango River enters Botswana and fans out through papyrus channels. It's quieter than the classic delta camps, with extraordinary birdlife, hippos and crocodiles, and the Tsodilo Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with more than 4,500 rock paintings, an hour away.
Nxamaseri has just eight chalets under the trees, a Yoga deck over the water, a pool and a spa. Days are spent by boat and mokoro, walking the islands, birding and weaving baskets with the team, with Yoga at either end of the day. It pairs well with a classic safari in Moremi and Chobe afterwards.
How to get there: fly into Maun; light-aircraft charters connect every leg from there.
Our Botswana retreat was led by Kerrith O'Fee of Victoria Falls Yoga. Read the recap.
